Current and Recent Projects

The Urban Bee Lab is involved with many projects throughout the state, and even a few in Costa Rica!  From presentations to garden clubs, to workshops on bee identification, we span the state promoting the conservation of native bees and all pollinators.

Here is a short list of projects we are currently working on.  Please see the drop down boxes under "Current and Recent Projects" for more detailed information on a few of our big projects.

 - Oxford Tract Bee-Flower Evaluation Garden:  visit the garden during the Bringing Back the Natives Garden tour each spring!
 - California Statewide Survey: 15 cities provide sites for urban native bee survey work where we search for 31 target plant types
 - Farming for Native Bees:  collaborating with farmers, we encourage native bees on farms through bee-attractive plantings
 - The Sonoma Bee Count:  a 10 yr study and citizen initiated project monitoring native bees in Sonoma, CA
 - The Costa Rica Bee Project: urban and wildland bee surveys in the Guanacaste Province of Costa Rica
 - CA Native Bee Documentary:  Partnering with Team Candiru (Bristol, UK) we are making a film on our native bees!
 - Workshops:  several workshops each year provide citizens with knowledge of native bee biology and ecology
 - Garden Installations:  we help build and modify bee gardens at schools, private residences, and many botanic gardens
